Harness your dog's power!

Being a part of a dog-powered team is possible for any dog owner - you don't need a husky or traditional sled dog! We're here to help get you and your canine teammate over the first hurdles getting into the sport, and provide ongoing training to support the growth and development of local teams.

There are many benefits for dogs running in harness. The obvious one is exercise.
Harness sports can also provide an opportunity for:

  • shy dogs to gain confidence

  • over-excited dogs to control their emotions

  • all dogs to deal with distractions and run past

  • being near other dogs without "needing" to say hello to all of them

Our Services

1

Private Sessions

Are you looking to start dog-powered sports with your dog, but have no idea where to begin? We can help with everything from harness fitting, gear recommendations, and tailored training sessions to get you to where you want to be as a team.

A few commonly requested private sessions include:
- Dog power 101: How do I start?

- Training runs: using a chase team or adding in elements like passing other teams

-Run my dog (like run club, but for dogs that just can't handle the "team" element)

Private Sessions are time based

30 min  $30
60 min  $50

2

Team Run

Do you want your dog to get out running during the day? Our team runs place pups who LOVE dog-powered sports into teams of like-minded pups. We pick everyone up, travel to a safe trail system, run, then return!

Dogs will need prior experience running in harness (see Private Sessions or Try It days). They will need to be okay with crate travel. Teams go out on a regular schedule, with pups running once or twice a week.

Run Club Runs are $30/dog/run

($20 for a second dog)

3

Try It!

Any easy way for pups to "test the waters" of dogpower. You meet us at a private trail, use our harnesses, and pups are placed into a team of experienced sled dogs.

Try It Days are scheduled on weekends throughout the season, and will be posted as available.

New dogs are $45
Returning dogs are $30

Additional dogs in the same session are $15 each

If your pup is super nervous/shy, or overly aroused by other dogs - a private session might be the best option for you.

What is a "dog-powered sport"?

Dog-powered Sports are activities for humans and canines to complete together as part of one team. There are MANY different ways to become dog-powered, and any breed or size of dog can do it!

Canicross/Canihike - The human uses their feet to move forward while being pulled by their dog(s). Best for one or two dogs, and frequently the best place to start for training a new pup in dogpowered sports.

Bikejor/Scooter - The human uses a mountain bike or trail scooter to move forward while being pulled by their dog(s). Best for one or two dogs. Adding wheels makes it easier for a human to go faster!

Skijor - The human is on skis while being pulled by their dog(s). Best for one or two dogs. Classic or skate skis are acceptable. It is HIGHLY recommended that the human be a proficient skier prior to adding dog power.

Sled/Kicksled - The human uses either a full-sized dogsled, or a smaller kicksled, while being pulled by their dog(s). Kicksleds can accommodate one or two dogs, while full-sized dogsleds can be pulled by many dogs.

WHAT IS A SLED DOG?

Technically being a "sled dog" is a job, not a breed. Any dog that enjoys pulling in a harness is a "sled dog".

Breeds that have been bred specifically for their pulling desire and performance are much more likely to have the drive to pull and enjoy it! This includes purebreds like Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes, but also purpose-breds like Alaskan Huskies, Eurohounds, and Greysters. Many "off-breeds" also LOVE the sport, and we see a lot of working dogs picking up the job very easily. This includes sporting dogs like German shorthaired pointers & retrievers, and herders like Australian shepherds & border collies. We also have a few doodles rocking the harness, and many mutts of unknown origin saying that they love the sport.

Ultimately, the only way to know if your dog might enjoy dog-powered sports is to let them give it a try!
