General Terms & Conditions

There are a few requirements to make sure all clients have a safe and fun experience. Additional requirements may apply for specific services - please review the information on the activity pages.

Vaccinations & Health

Pets are required to have up-to-date vaccination records for Rabies and DAPP (also known as DHPP – common cocktail vaccination for Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus). Titers demonstrating acceptable antibody levels will be accepted.

Kennel cough vaccination annually is highly recommended.

Owners are required to immediately contact Run a Mutt to cancel/reschedule if your dog presents with any of the following symptoms, or has been determined to have any communicable illness (including gastrointestinal worms and fleas):

- sneezing/cough

-vomiting

-lethargy
-injury that affects movement (pad cuts, sore muscles, limp)

We want all our clients to remain happy and healthy. There will be no cancellation repercussions where the cancellation is due to health and wellness.

Reactivity

Any potential nervousness, overexcitement, overarousal, fixation, or uncertainty around other dogs or humans must be disclosed prior to participating. Run a Mutt will make every effort to work through cases where dogs cannot be loose together, including separate training/running, the use of space buffers from other dogs, or wearing a muzzle that has adequate space to allow for panting for the protection of other dogs and humans.  If a muzzle is required, owners are encouraged to work on positive conditioning at home prior to needing it for sessions for the use of this tool.

Extreme reactivity that has resulted in serious bites on other dogs or any bites on humans is beyond the scope of Run a Mutt's comfort/training. Please seek the advice and guidance of a certified local dog trainer for these issues. Run a Mutt is willing to work alongside local trainers to implement training plans for your pup.

Reservations, Cancellation, & Availability

Reservations for services involving the use of mentor dogs depend entirely on their availability. Some activities are not appropriate in all weather conditions. Short notice requests may not be available and booking ahead is recommended.

All confirmed/booked services must be canceled at least 24 hours prior. Cancellation made within 24 hours of the agreed service date will result in charges of 50% of the agreed service unless that cancellation is related to the safety of the client or their dog (e.g. poor driving conditions, emergency veterinary care, inappropriate weather conditions). Failure to cancel resulting in Run a Mutt traveling to your location to pick up/provide a service will result in a full service charge for the booked service.

Modification of activities may be required to keep pets safe in hot or cold weather. Outdoor activities will also be canceled if there is a chance for thunder/lightning, temperatures above 28 degrees or below -28 degrees, or rain that is moderate to heavy.

In Good Health

Some services (e.g. dogpower) are physically demanding. Dogs should be in good health prior to booking. Good health considerations include:

  • Body condition (even slightly overweight dogs put extra stress on the joints when running)

  • Age (dogs younger than 6 months will not be accepted in team runs, dogs between 6months and 12months may be accepted conditionally, dogs over 7 years will need review prior to running)

  • Current fitness level (be honest here! We don't want to overdo your dogs first runs)

Run a Mutt is not a veterinarian, and will not diagnose conditions. We will identify any issues (lumps, bumps, scratches, awkward gait, etc) as seen. For some conditions we may require the dog to be checked by their veterinarian prior to resuming services.
